OH MY GOD PAY, BLESS YOUR FACE.

I actually get asked to see a lot of portfolio’s while I’m at cons. And while I LOVE looking at other people’s art and offering critiques if they ask, it’s sort of cringe-y to be handed a messy stack of papers or something. Nice portfolio’s look so much more professional!

putting this up, since my website project for university is finished and I don’t have to put it on the web anymore.

a very, very basic image guide on how your portfolio should be presented or appear, whether you’re in fine arts, graphic design or illustration, illustrated by yours truly

please do NOT remove the commentary while reblogging, do not reupload anywhere else.

Anonymous asked:

what settings/brushes do you use when using photoshop? i'm trying to figure it out but i really love how some of your art looks in ps and i can't find a good pen brush to use

Anonymous said: like did you use any specific brush in that one drawing of jar jar binks? it was rly cute i loved how it looked if you know which brush that was

When I draw in photoshop I use Kyle Brushes from his Ultimate Megapack

specifically, i really love how the Animator Pencil feels for doodling! but i also quite like making lines w it sometimes? (i drew all of these w that brush)

and this drawing was made entirely with the Mr Natural Brush. at first that brush felt super slippery but I’ve really grown to like it for more solid lining, and also to block in colours.

as for other brushes i like to use, i’ve placed these at the top of my list haha. all of these are from the ultimate megapack, and when i first got it, i was overwhelmed w trying out hundreds of brushes but i’ve somewhat made a little selection of my favorites. then again i sometimes just scroll thru them and use some random one for a little bit in the colouring process u kno.

EDIT (late 2018): woah! it seems that kyle webster’s brush packs aren’t available to buy anymore because… something something

Feeling that your drawings can look a little bit more fun? Do your character designs seem a little bit static or generic? Maybe they need a small push to their proportions!
